Breaking records and building connections at ESERA 2025
What an absolutely incredible conference week we have just wrapped up here in Copenhagen!
As co-chair of ESERA 2025, Europe’s most important science education research conference, I'm still buzzing: With 1,811 participants from 59 countries across 6 continents, this was the largest conference in the 30-year history of the European Science Education Research Association. Wow!
But of course, the numbers tell only part of the story. We deliberately introduced innovations to foster more meaningful dialogue among participants and make the conference experience extend far beyond our five days together.
For example, the ESERA Prelude provided our international colleagues with an insider's look at Danish science education, fostering dialogue and learning between our local communities and visitors from around the world. We also introduced exploratory seminars as a new presentation format designed specifically to spark research collaborations and open new avenues of inquiry. Plus, our session Padlets served as resource hubs and enabled productive conversations.
I have to give huge credit to our organising team, our amazing team of hard-working volunteers, and our partners at CAP Partners. Their behind-the-scenes work made everything look so smooth and effortless, even when it was anything but!
What were your ESERA highlights? I'd love to hear what resonated with you and what conversations you're still having ✨
Thank you to everyone who made ESERA 2025 such a huge success.
